The progenitor of the Indiana Sargent family was Thomas Sargent, born about 1760 in Orange co,NC. He married and raised his family in Caswell co,NC. About 1795 he moved to Russell co,VA. In about 1805 the Sargent family accompanied the Waggoner family on the trek West from Russell co,VA to Pulaski co,KY. About 1815 both families along with the Boone family, came up to Lawrence co,IN. There these families were the original settlers of Indian Creek twp. Thomas Sargent died about 1825 in Lawrence County.
