Colonial America
George HOBSON Sr (ca.1687 ENG-1748 VA)
Birth-right Quaker, early member of Hopewell Monthly Meeting, Frederick County,VA;
on 23 Apr 1734 appointed a Justice of Spotsylvania County, VA for all of the area of Virginia lying West of the Blue Ridge Mountains; also appointed a Justice for Orange County, VA on 1 Jan 1734/5
Barent Jacobzen KOOL (1610 HOL-aft.1684 NY)
He came to the Colony of New Netherlands in the service of the Dutch West Indies Company.
On 8 Jun 1633 he, along with 6
other members of the Dutch West Indies Company, signed a Treaty with the Sickename Indians for land bordering on the Connecticut River. This tract was named Sickajook and the men built a trading fort called the House of Good Hope.
In New Amsterdam he was an Excise Officer & Master of the Yacht, "Amsterdam" with which he patrolled the waterways around the
city to prevent smuggling.

Nathaniel BRITTAIN (1734 VA-1776 VA)
Resident of Wythe County,VA; believed to have died in battle in VA
His 3rd son George BRITTAIN (1770 VA-1850 KY) was a General, Kentucky Militia,
and is generally credited as the Father of Harlan County,KY
Thomas DYSON (ca.1750 MD- ? NC)
Private, received North Carolina Military Land Warrant for 640 acres for 7 years service
Hannah (HADLEY) DIXON STANFIELD (1709 IRE-1783 NC)
Birth-right Quaker; Founder of Cane Creek Monthly Meeting, Orange County,NC
Her manor house at Hillsborough,NC was confiscated and used as his Headquarters by General Lord Cornwallis
She helped organize the Cane Creek Meeting House on her Plantation as a center of passive resistance to the Tories during the time of the Battle of Guilford Court House
Her eldest son Simon DIXON died in the Revolution defending his mill in Orange County,NC against the Tories
Edward LAMPKIN (ca.1735 VA- ? VA)
Shown on the Muster Rolls of Culpeper County,VA in 1781
Col. James LYON (1736 VA-1817 NC)
Appointed to the Commission of the Peace in August 1779 in Henry County,VA
Lieutenant Colonel of Henry County,VA Militia by appointment of the County Court; fought in the Battle of Guilford Court House
In 1782 compensated by the Henry County,VA Court for
100 lbs of beef supplied to Captain Eliphaz Shelton's Company on their march against the Tories
Following the Revolution, on 29 Mar 1783 he was commissioned Lieutenant Colonel of the County Militia by the Governor of Virginia
High Sheriff of Henry County,VA for 1786-1787
Lt. Stephen LYON (1761 VA-1820 TN)
1st Lieutenant in Henry County,VA Militia; fought in the Battle of Guilford Court House under the command
of his father Col. James LYON
Charles PERKINS (1742 VA- ? NC)
Believed to have fought in the Battle of Guilford Court House in the Pittsylvania County,VA Militia under the command of his brother Col. Peter PERKINS of Berry Hill; Colonel Perkins is described in a
history of Pittsylvania County as an ardent patriot who threw open his plantation of Berry Hill on the Dan River to serve as an American Hospital during the hostilities.
